E-Mail for Rapid Delivery of Information

Following the success of a new e-mail scheme in many local villages, I am inviting you, if you have e-mail, to participate in a scheme for Rye which will use the internet as a rapid means of communication both out to you and, where you can help or wish to report suspicious incidents, back to the Police.

It is important, I feel, to take this opportunity to restate that the Neighbourhood Watch in Sussex has these main objectives:

– To Prevent Crime
By improving security, increasing vigilance and protecting the most vulnerable members of the neighbourhood by creating and/or maintaining a caring community.
– To Assist the Police in Detecting Crime
By promoting effective communication and the prompt reporting of suspicious and criminal activity.
– To Reduce Undue Fear of Crime
By providing accurate information about risks and by promoting a sense of security and community spirit, particularly amongst the more vulnerable.
– To Improve Police – Community Liaison
By providing effective communication between the Police and the Community, by the Co-ordinator passing on and members responding to Police messages or every member informing the Police effectively when incidents demand.
For E-Mail Users

Jim Hollands has kindly undertaken to develop the project and if you are on-line we would appreciate your participation by simply sending an e-mail using the link above giving your name and address please so that we can ensure that you do not also receive future phone cascades.

All e-mail addresses will remain confidential, messages are sent out as blind copies.

Jim will then compile an e-mail group and act as an electronic Co-ordinator so that we can start to communicate directly into your homes etc re local crime issues, incidents etc and advise you how best to communicate with the Police concerning them or to report other suspicious incidents etc. Jim will also have e-mail connections to your Community Police Officers and Thelma Blankley, Crime Prevention Co-ordinator, Senlac Division, Bexhill Police Station.

May we thank you in anticipation of your support for the e-mail system, where it is possible.

Non E-Mail Scheme

Unfortunately we do not currently have a full traditional Neighbourhood Watch for local residents who do not have e-mail.

However, if you are willing to help us run such a scheme we would very much like to hear from you please and whilst it helps to have e-mail it is not essential.

If you would be willing to help us by acting as an area Co-ordinator for residents who are not on-line would you please telephone Thelma Blankley on 01424 456008. Please leave a message if she is not available at the time.
