You know they say everyone has at least one book in them? Well everyone also has at least one brilliant project idea for a podcast series. But where does one start?
This introductory workshop is designed for absolute beginners and will give participants a basis from which to launch their podcast projects with confidence. This includes overviews of planning, technical aspects of recording, editing, online hosts and marketing.
10am - 2:00pm - £40 per person
Refreshments provided. Bring your own lunch.
*Jilliene Sellner has been podcasting on and off since 2006 as Canyella and making sound recordings since she was 8 years old. She holds and MFA from University of Creative Arts and is currently undertaking a PhD in Music at the University of Sussex.
Podcasting workshop schedule:
1) What’s in a Podcast? - Turn your brilliant idea into something doable and successful. We will tackle branding, audience, frequency, length and so on. This will be the foundation of moving onto the more practical issues of making a podcast. Planning is crucial to ensure achievability of your project.
2) The ins and outs of Recording your Podcast - The second part will cover techniques for recording, equipment you will need for your particular project and an introduction to DAWs* (Digital Audio Workstations).
3) Launching your Podcast - The final aspect of the workshop will focus on online hosting options, linking to your website and building an audience through marketing on social media.
*Note that a more technically in-depth workshop can be given in early summer using recorded material from your projects. This time can also be used as a follow up to any questions/difficulties participants come across.
